VANCOUVER — The 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be held in Armenia and Georgia.
According to the Football Federation of Armenia, the joint bid submitted by Armenia and Georgia was selected as the winner during a FIFA Council meeting held in Vancouver, Canada.
In a video message, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that matches in Armenia will take place in Yerevan, Vanadzor, and Ijevan.
“The stadium in Vanadzor is currently being renovated, a new stadium will be built in Ijevan, and Yerevan’s Republican Stadium will undergo upgrades,” Pashinyan said.
The Football Federation of Armenia also reported that its president, Armen Melikbekyan, and the president of the Georgian Football Federation, Levan Kobiashvili, met with Gianni Infantino.
According to the federation’s statement, both officials emphasized that hosting the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup is a great honor and responsibility.
