175 Russian Workers Evacuated from Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Plant Depart Armenia for Russia

YEREVAN — A group of 175 Russian workers evacuated from Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has departed from Armenia for Russia, according to the Russian Embassy in Yerevan.

The embassy noted that since the start of the U.S.-Israeli conflict against Iran, a total of 509 Russian citizens have returned to Russia through Armenian territory.

The embassy also expressed gratitude to Armenia for its assistance in evacuating employees of Rosatom.

Last month, Rosatom reported that an area directly adjacent to the active power unit of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant had come under attack.

Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency called for maximum restraint.

Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is Iran’s only nuclear power station. It is located along the northern coast of the Persian Gulf, is fueled by Russian-produced uranium, and is monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
