EU Commissioner Praises Armenia’s Progress in Visa Liberalization Process

YEREVAN — EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner has positively assessed Armenia’s progress in the visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union.

Brunner made the remarks during a joint press conference with Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.

“Today I held meetings with Armenia’s Minister of Internal Affairs and the Deputy Prime Minister, during which we discussed the excellent progress Armenia has achieved toward visa liberalization. This is very important. Since the dialogue began in 2024, the progress has been very steady. In November 2025, the EU already provided Armenia with the Visa Liberalization Action Plan,” Brunner said.

He noted that significant progress has been made in areas such as document security, migration management, and the introduction of biometric passports and identification cards, which Armenian citizens will soon be able to obtain.

The EU commissioner added that one of the goals of his visit is also to encourage Armenia to continue implementing these reforms.

According to Brunner, the next stage of the process will be a report on Armenia’s progress in implementing the Visa Liberalization Action Plan. The report is expected to be presented in May during the framework of the EU–Armenia summit.
