Defense Ministry Assesses All Risks Amid Developments Around Iran, Says Papikyan

YEREVAN — Armenia’s Ministry of Defense continuously assesses all risks related to the country’s security, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated while speaking with journalists, commenting on developments surrounding Iran.

Responding to a question about whether Armenia’s security risks have been evaluated in light of ongoing events around Iran, Papikyan emphasized that this process is carried out through coordinated efforts among various state institutions.

“In the Republic of Armenia, there are bodies such as the Security Council, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the National Security Service. The Ministry of Defense also fulfills its role—every risk is being assessed,” Papikyan said.

The minister also addressed criticism directed at the authorities, claiming that government representatives were engaged in internal political campaigning during the outbreak of conflict in Iran.

“These actions were aimed at delivering an appropriate message to the public. The campaign was intended to demonstrate that there is peace in the Republic of Armenia,” he noted.
