Armenia’s Ruling Party Leads Polls, According to International Republican Institute Survey

YEREVAN — If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, would receive the highest share of votes, according to a public opinion survey conducted in Armenia by the International Republican Institute (IRI).

The poll results show the following support for political parties and alliances:

• Civil Contract / Nikol Pashinyan – 29%
• “Mer Dzevov” / Strong Armenia Party / Samvel Karapetyan – 11%
• Armenia Alliance / Armenian Revolutionary Federation / Robert Kocharyan – 4%
• Prosperous Armenia Party / Gagik Tsarukyan – 2%
• Republican Party of Armenia / Gurgen Simonyan – 1%
• Vardan Ghukasyan (DOK) – 1%
• “Wings of Unity” Party / Arman Tatoyan – 1%
• Republic Party / Aram Z. Sargsyan – 1%

The survey also asked respondents to identify what they believe has been the government’s greatest achievement over the past six months.

Seventeen percent of respondents cited ensuring security and peace as the government’s most significant achievement.

Other responses included:

• Diversification of foreign policy – 9%
• Road improvements and repairs – 9%
• Introduction of a universal health insurance system – 8%
• Reforms within the army – 7%
• Improvements in the education sector – 7%
• Signing of a peace agreement – 4%
• Economic growth – 3%
• TRIPP project – 3%
• Reduction of mandatory military service duration – 2%
• Return of prisoners – 2%
• Fight against corruption – 2%
• Implementation of housing construction programs – 2%
• Increase in pensions – 1%

Ten percent of respondents mentioned other achievements, while 32% said the government has had no achievements in the past six months. Another 17% said they were unsure how to answer.

The survey used an open-ended response format, allowing participants to provide up to two answers, with the results reflecting the total number of responses given.
