Defense Minister Suren Papikyan Meets with Iran’s President and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council

TEHRAN — Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance and necessity of continuing to develop the high-level relations between Armenia and Iran, as well as strengthening peace and stability in the region.

Issues related to Armenia–Iran cooperation were discussed, including collaboration in the defense sector. “I stressed the necessity of resolving the situation surrounding Iran through diplomatic means. We also exchanged views on issues related to international and regional security,” Papikyan stated. The minister had departed for an official visit to Iran on February 23.

On February 25, Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan also met with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

During that meeting, the sides discussed issues related to regional security and stability, as well as the current state and future prospects of Armenia–Iran bilateral cooperation.

Minister Papikyan underscored the importance of resolving the situation surrounding Iran through diplomatic channels. The interlocutors also addressed the broader security environment surrounding Armenia and Iran.
