Permanent Representative of Armenia Elected as First Vice-Chairman of UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs

VIENNA — At the 68th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs, which commenced on March 10, 2025, H.E. Mr. Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Vienna International Organization, was elected as the First Vice-Chairman of the 68th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.

In his capacity, Ambassador Hovhannisyan will also Chair the Committee of Whole, coordinating the negotiations on a number of draft resolutions submitted by member states, which are aimed at promoting the prevention of drug use, addressing the consequences, development of alternative development programs, aspects of the security of law enforcement agencies in the fight against drugs, etc.

The 68th session of the Commission will continue its work throughout the year.
