Armenia to Purchase 84 Additional ATAGS Artillery Systems from India

NEW DELHI – The Armenian Armed Forces have completed testing of six units of the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS), 155 mm/52 caliber towed guns supplied by India, according to the specialized website Indian Defense Research Wing (IDRW).

IDRW sources report that the guns have passed all operational tests conducted at various locations across Armenia. It is noted that the batch of six ATAGS 155 mm/52 guns has been programmed in Armenian at the request of the Armenian side.

“Additionally, several other modifications have been made to tailor the guns to the specific requirements of the Armenian Armed Forces.”

Although the artillery systems were initially tested in India, they had not been tested in Armenia for a significant period, IDRW adds. According to IDRW sources, the successful completion of these tests has enabled Armenia to begin the process of purchasing an additional 84 units of ATAGS guns from the manufacturer, Kalyani Group.

The acquisition of the ATAGS artillery systems will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Armenian Army and provide a much-needed increase in the firepower of its artillery. “These modern guns will be invaluable in protecting the country’s borders and ensuring its national security,” said the IDRW source.
