TBILISI — Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, during a meeting with visiting Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, welcomed the development of Armenian-Georgian cooperation in the defense sector and expressed full support for this process, the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.
Papikyan, in turn, stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the defense sector and conveyed greetings from Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Kobakhidze.
During their conversation, the importance of long-term and stable peace in the region was emphasized. Both sides also highlighted the strategic relations between Armenia and Georgia and underlined the effectiveness of periodic contacts between high-level delegations. The meeting was also attended by Armenian Ambassador to Georgia Ashot Smbatyan.
Suren Papikyan and Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani, during their meeting, emphasized the intensification and enhancement of cooperation in military education, as well as the importance of establishing long-term and stable peace in the region.
The parties agreed to explore the possibilities of further expanding bilateral defense cooperation into new fields through mutual visits of various groups.
The defense ministers of the two countries also discussed several other issues related to Armenia-Georgia cooperation in the field of defense and regional security.
