BLAGOEVGRAD — Armenian students won 4 gold and 1 silver medals at the 31st International Mathematics Competition for University Students held in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria on August 5-11.
A total of 401 students from 78 universities around the world participated in the competition.
Vahagn Hovhannisyan, Hayk Karapetyan, Arman Fahradyan and Ruben Hambardzumyan representing Yerevan State University won gold medals, while Hamlet Petrosyan won a silver medal.
Yerevan State University was the 8th in the team standings.
The Armenian team was led by Karen Keryan, who also coached them together with Vazgen Mikayelyan, Albert Gevorgyan and Tigran Hakobyan. Karen Keryan and Tigran Hakobyan also authored two of the ten tasks of the competition.
