Pashinyan and Putin Discuss Regional Stability and Cooperation in Phone Call

YEREVAN — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone conversation on Friday to discuss regional stability and cooperation, including steps toward a normalization accord with Azerbaijan.

According to the Kremlin’s readout of the call, the leaders focused on the ongoing efforts to normalize Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, particularly in light of Putin’s recent discussions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Putin reiterated Russia’s commitment to supporting Armenia and Azerbaijan in negotiating a peace treaty, advancing border delimitation and demarcation processes, and reopening transport and logistics routes in the region.

The Armenian government’s press office issued a brief statement, noting that Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Putin for sharing his insights from the visit to Azerbaijan. However, the statement did not provide further details on the content of their conversation.

Both leaders also agreed to meet soon to discuss further issues concerning the Armenia-Russia bilateral agenda, signaling continued diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
