Rubinyan: Armenia Has No Territorial Claims Towards Any Country

YEREVAN — Armenia has no territorial claims beyond its internationally recognized borders, the country’s deputy parliamentary speaker Ruben Rubinyan said on Friday.

“A 12-kilometer section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border has already been delimited. Border guards from both sides have been deployed to these areas. Armenia has no claims beyond its internationally recognized territory and is ready for constructive and intensive work to continue the delimitation process and to finalize and sign a peace treaty as soon as possible,” Rubinyan said during the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, as reported by Russian state news outlet TASS.

He emphasized that Armenia is interested in becoming part of international transit routes by unblocking regional communications. There is no doubt that major infrastructure projects in the South Caucasus can serve as a unifying factor for the countries of the region and beyond, Rubinyan said.

“The opening of transport routes in the South Caucasus should lead to the formation of a sustainable regional model of economic relations. It is within the framework of a peaceful agenda and regional development vision that the Armenian government has developed and presented the Crossroads of Peace project, aimed at unblocking all regional communications, based on full respect for the sovereignty and jurisdiction of countries, as well as on the principles of equality and reciprocity,” Rubinyan said.
