The Armenian weightlifters engaged in the competition when all the other participants had already finished it.

Still in the first attempt of snatch Tigran Martirosyan lifted 160 kg, winning a small silver medal and Andranik Karapetyan first raised 165 kg, and then 170 kg becoming a gold medalist.

In the clean and jerk, Karapetyan overcame 192 kg, then 197 kg, and won a gold medal.

Martirosyan, with the result of 192 kg in clean and jerk, got a silver medal.

In clean and jerk combination, Karapetyan won a gold and Martirosyan won a silver medal.

Other Team Armenia members Isabella Yalyane, Arakel Mirzoyan, Vanik Avetisyan finished their performances. The latter’s 4th place had been considered the best result of Armenians until Martirosian’s and Karapetian’s victories.

On April 14, in the first women’s sub-group (69 kg), Nazik Avdalyan, a former female world champion, will engage in the competition. She received a long treatment after a car accident in 2010 as a result of which she had been seriously injured.
