\’Four Pianos on One Stage\’: European Musicians to Play Unique Concert in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Tert.am) — The Armenian State Chamber Orchestra will host on Wednesday evening a unique concert entitled “Four Pianos on One Stage”.

The special music event, promising lots of surprises, is going to be a joint performance by European pianists (Gloria Campaner from Italy, Tristan Pfaff from France and François-Xavier Poizat Switzerland).

The unique musical performance, which traces backs its origins to 300 years (to the times of Bach), was first performed in Yerevan in 2014 after being played at François-Xavier Poizat’s festival in Switzerland. “It was a great success, and we felt very happy and astonished. So we decided to make the project traditional,” Vahan Martirosyan, the Chamber’s artistic director and chief conductor, told reporters in Yerevan on Monday.

“The only difficulty has to do with having simultaneously four instruments and four pianists on the stage. First, it is really not easy at all to find the kind of stage that would house four pianos; also, we have to fix a date convenient to all the pianists. Each of us pursues his own career, so it isn’t absolutely easy to gather together all in the same place the same day. It is really a great miracle we managed to do that.”

The Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall, which is going to host the concert, has enough room and instruments for the music event, Martirosyan added.

The European musicians, who also attended the news conference, said they are looking forward to the concert. At the end, they performed a waltz by Brams as their special gift to Armenian women ahead of March 8.
