GLENDALE, CA — World premiere of Aria and Dance for saxophone and string quartet by Armenia’s best known jazz musician, composer, Armen Hyusnunts, highlights the March 20 Dilijan program. Also, UCLA Camarades conductorless string orchestra returns to perform an exciting program of works by Bach, Villa Lobos, Mansurian, Carlson, and Tchaikovsky’s beloved Serenade for String Orchestra. Performers include soprano Shoushik Barsoumian, violinists Movses Pogossian and Guillaume Sutre, violist Ben Bartelt, and cellist Antonio Lysy.
Dilijan Series’ 11th season features a lineup of universally admired artists of international reputation, such as violinists Guillaume Sutre and Gabriela Diaz, violist Carrie Dennis, cellists Clive Greensmith and Antonio Lysy, clarinetist Michele Zukovsky, pianists Sergei Babayan, Artur Avanesov, and Armen Guzelimian, among others. The Series will premiere four new chamber works by Sargsyan, Zohrabian, and Avanesov bringing the total number of the Dilijan commissions to 38.
