Pakrat Estukyan: Majority of Armenians Voted for Kurdish Party in Turkey

YEREVAN (News.am) — YEREVAN. – The Armenians are more politicized in modern Turkey as compared to previous years, editor of Agos newspaper Pakrat Estukyan said during discussions in Yerevan on Monday.

Speaking about the Armenian community of Turkey, he noted that Armenians had always voted for right leaning parties.

“But there was an important change. Majority of Armenian community voted for the Kurdish Democratic People’s Party [HDP],” he said, calling it an unprecedented fact.

Estukyan added that the Greek community also voted for HDP.

As to the current situation in Turkey, he called it a “chaos”, highlighting that the Armenians are a target of pro-government media’s agitation.
