STEPANAKERT — Karabakh army prevented Azeri troops on Thursday night from launching a raid in the Eastern part of the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and Azerbaijan, the press office of NKR’s ministry of defense reported.
The frontline units of the NKR Defense Army detected on time the advance of the special detachments of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces comprised of 20-25 members and threw them to starting positions inflicting losses on the rival, the press service of NKR Defense Army reported.
The Armenian party suffered no losses.
Apart from the incursion attempt, on the night of August 27 and morning of August 28, the rival violated the ceasefire 110 times by firing from rifles and artillery weapons of various calibers as well as from 60mm, 82mm and 120mm mortars.
“The rival’s actions were suppressed owing to the retaliatory measures of the Defense Army’s frontline units,” reads the press release.
