Armenian National Team Goalkeeper Roman Berezovksy has Retired

YEREVAN. – Armenian National Team goalkeeper Roman Berezovksy decided to retire.

“I confess everything happened very unexpectedly. I was planning to continue playing, but changed my plans after the match against Portugal.

I actually had such thoughts before, but the match against Portugal gave abundant food for reflection. Unfortunately, our national team has been showing weak results recently. I take the most part of the blame on myself, since during many matches we were losing the thread of the game and hence the most important scores. If someone replaces the goalkeeper, this will perhaps be better for the team,” he said.

According to Berezovsky, it’s better to be a promising coach, than an aging sportsman, nvspb reports.

Roman Berezovsky, 40, currently works in Dynamo Moscow Club Coaching Staff.

Roman Berezovsky was born on 5 August 1974 in Yerevan to ethnic Ukrainian parents. He has represented Armenia in 92 international matches since his debut in home 1998. He is considered as the best Armenian goalkeeper ever.
