YEREVAN — Turkish publisher and activist Ragib Zarakolu, who is in Yerevan these days, once again reiterated the need for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey.

At a meeting with the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party (SDHP) representatives Vazgen Mesropyan, Dmitri Martirosyan and Gagik Melikyan, Zarakolu said it is now time to speak with official Ankara with the language of claims.

“What belongs to the Armenians must be returned to the Armenians,” he said, adding that the Turkish state was founded on the lands of the Armenians and Greeks.

Hunchakian Party representatives thanked Zarakolu for speaking out in Turkey about the fact of the Armenian Genocide throughout so many years and expressed their readiness to cooperate.

Ragip Zarakolu also met with the Hunchakian Party “Sarkis Tkhruni” Youth Student Union representatives.

  1. Yerevan was once a Turkish city, hence would what was once Turkish in Yerevan be returned to Turkey?

    1. You are so ignorant, actually so unread, therefore,an uninformed living being that, your logic is painfull or roughly put,you are an idiot!

  2. I think, British CPTR, you have not read enough of the founding of Yerevan, it’s history, it’s occupation by other countries and tribes, and it’s modern history (and by modern, I mean from 1800 to present). To say that it was once a Turkish city is to ignore the history of one of the oldest cities on earth. My family once lived in Anatolia, in the county of Kharpet. They lost their lives and land in 1915. But to be honest with you, I’m so grateful my grandmother survived to find safe haven in the USA. I want nothing from Turkey or the Turks. And their government’s admission or denial of the Genocide means nothing to me. I know the truth.

  3. A Turkish city? Yerevan dates back to the 8th century B.C. and is named after the Armenian king Yervand IV. It is not Turkish, but Armenian. The Turks have taken enough from Armenians. They stole the wealth of our families, their homes, their lands.
