The 86 year-old Armenian-French singer Aznavour received the Scopus Awards of the French Friends of the Hebrew University for 2011 on Monday. The award was given to him for his contribution to civilization and his fight for the Armenian people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Aznavour stated that Turkey’s “crude anti-Semitism” was revealed just in the recent years, Turkey took open anti-Israeli positions on all Middle East problems.
Aznavour has participated in over 60 films and took part in more than thousand songs. He has sold over 100 million copies of his albums worldwide.
Aznavour has been Armenian Ambassador to Switzerland and Armenia’s Permanent Representative at the UN Office since May 5, 2009.
