Armenia’s Tigran Martirosyan Wins Weightlifting World Title in Turkey

Armenian weightlifter Tigran G. Martirosyan registered a double victory in both the clean and jerk and the total in the men’s 77-kg category at the world weightlifting championships in Antalya, Turkey on Thursday.
Martirosyan, a 22-year-old European champion, lifted a total of 373kg, including 173kg in the snatch and 200kg in the clean and jerk to win the gold.
China’s Xiaojun Lu came in second with a total of 370 kg, followed by Egypt’s Tarek Yehia (356 kg).
Earlier, in the 69Kg women’s tournament, twice European champion Meline Daluzyan won the bronze, with a total of 251 kg (112 kg in snatch, 139 in clean and jerk). Russia’s Svetlana Shimkova earned the gold medal with a total of 256 kg, and China’s Yue Kang won the silver with a total of 253 kg.
