YEREVAN — The 2015 RA Presidential IT Award for significant contribution to information technologies has been given to Evgeniy Kaspersky, Executive Director of the global IT security Kaspersky Lab.

“I am very happy to receive this prestigious award. I am also proud that I’ve joined the list of the awardees which comprises true legends of the IT community. I would like to thank the Executive Council for the award as well as for the opportunity to familiarize with the IT area in this country. The world is becoming more computerized and digitalized, and significance of the information technologies in economy and social life continues to grow.

We will undoubtedly continue to support Armenia’s initiatives aimed at the development of the IT area,” said Evgeniy Kaspersky during his meeting with the President of Armenia.

The Armenian President’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global IT Sphere was established six years ago.

It is annually awarded to a prominent person whose investments in the global IT industry positively affect the course of history.

These investments may have different manifestations: technological, educational, business, financial.

Previous recipients include retired CEO/Chairman of the Board of Intel Corporation, Craig Barrett in 2010, co-founder of Apple Computers, Inc. Steve Wozniak in 2011, Chairman Emeritus of Synaptics, Inc. Federico Faggin in 2012 and President of Technovision Consulting and Board Director of Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Tsugio Makimoto in 2013. Last year the prize went to Chief Development Officer of Sysco Systems, Inc., Mario Mazzola.
