YEREVAN (Arka) — The 11th Digitec-2015 technology exhibition, scheduled for October 2-4 in Yerevan is expected to bring together a record number of participants, Karen Vardanian, the executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), the organizer of the annual event, said today.

Speaking at a news conference, he said 170 companies have confirmed their participation in the exhibition to showcase their products and services. Their number is 70% higher from last year’s figure, he said adding that they expect 40,000 visitors.

‘This year we have companies from the US, China, Taiwan, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Iran,” said Vardanian.

He noted that Armenia’s technological progress has consolidated ethnic Armenians across the globe as well as ethnic Armenian technological leaders. According to him, part of Armenians, who will participate in Digitec, have arrived from the United States.

Director of Ucom telecom provider Hayk Yesayan said his company, which is the platinum sponsor of Digitec, has prepared surprises for visitors, which they will find out tomorrow. He said Ucom has participated in six Digitec exhibitions and attaches great importance to this event, which is a good platform to talk to Ucom subscribers, understand their problems and provide them with the newest ideas.

The exhibition is organized by the Union of Information Technology, the platinum sponsor of the event is Ucom telecom provider. ARKA news agency is the permanent information sponsor of Digitec.

The Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia was founded in 2000 to protect the economic interests of IT companies, to stimulate business development, and promote research in the field of IT.

Ucom (Universal Communications) founded in 2007 is engaged in providing telecommunications services. With assistance from Ericsson, the company created a broadband access network, providing Internet services, IP-TV and fixed telephony.
