garo-paylanISTANBUL (Agos) — HDP Istanbul Member of Parliament Garo Paylan, speaking to Agos about the bomb attack in Suruç, reminded that the building that was targeted was a crisis centre for solidarity with Kobane, adding, “This solidarity was targeted today”.

According to the most recent information from the region, 28 people have died and more than a 100 have been injured in the suicide bombing carried out in Suruç on the SGDF (Socialist Youth Associations Federation) group that had gathered to take humanitarian aid to Kobani. The HDP (The People’s Democratic Party) has summoned an emergency meeting.

Agos spoke to HDP Istanbul MP Garo Paylan following his party’s Istanbul Provincial Organization’s meeting. Paylan, who was in Suruç for two months during the Kobani resistance, said the following:

“The courtyard where the attack took place is the courtyard of the crisis centre that we had organized together. It is also the place where for months people who have provided humanitarian support for the Kobani resistance have stayed. The young people targeted today were also on their way to Kobani to show solidarity in the reconstruction efforts of the town. This solidarity was targeted today. The target was the solidarity between Turkey’s west and Kobani”.

“It is inconceivable that the Intelligence Service was unaware of the attack”

Recalling the bombing of the HDP’s Diyarbakir rally and the attacks in Mersin and Adana during the run-up to the general election, Paylan said, “The State refuses to take a clear stance regarding ISIS. As long as the perpetrators and their connections are not revealed, further attacks will be encouraged. It is inconceivable that Turkey’s comprehensive intelligence network was unaware of this attack.”
