Armenian Sisters’ Academy in Montrose, California, is proud to announce that it was granted a six-year term of accreditation by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges). On July 7, 2010, WASC notified the school that it had reaccredited the school until June 30, 2016. This re-accreditation was based on the recommendation of WASC’s visiting team.

On Sunday, April 18, 2010, four experienced educators, selected by WASC, arrived at our school to conduct their formal visit and evaluate the school’s first self-study report. The visit lasted through Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

Preparations for the visit had begun in early 2009. Several home groups and focus groups had been formed to study, analyze and document the school’s efforts with regard to different aspects of school operation and education.

The visit began with an informal meeting with members of the school’s WASC Leadership Team and various school committees, teachers, staff, students, and even alumni. During their three-day visit, WASC visiting members spoke with our teachers and staff, students, and members of the home and focus groups. The visiting members attended all classrooms and observed our teachers and students, as they engaged in the learning process. After giving very positive feedback about our school, the visiting committee prepared a report, detailing its recommendations for accreditation.

The re-accreditation confirmed what everyone at our school has always known: our teachers and staff are committed to providing an excellent education, with high standards, and that our focus is indeed on learning.

Armenian Sisters’ Academy thanks the members of the school’s WASC Leadership Team, its teachers and staff, parents, students and alumni for their time, effort, and energy in ensuring the success of the accreditation process.

A job well done!
